The reason God gave His loving people commandments is to allow us to enjoy a life of abundance.
God promised us in the previous chapter, ‘if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession.’ What else could be greater grace than God considering us His treasure, adoring us, protecting and looking after us? And He gave us Ten Commandments for us to remember the rest of our lives.
He gave us commandments to ‘keep them’, not to ‘think about them’.
Hence I meditate on today’s Word and reflect how I will live by it.
Passage: Exodus 20:1~17
4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
