Special dawn prayer service 4
“Your faith will increase as much as you pray.”
When you pray, you form a pattern and format. Praise, thanksgiving, repentance, intercession and petition are the 5 elements of prayer. Generally the time of your prayer is short because you are limited to and focused only on your personal petition prayer points. Today’s passage also states about the different types of prayers. Petition is sincerely confessing our hardships and situation to God. Prayer is a two way conversation with God. Listening to God is also a type of prayer. Intercessory prayer is lifting up the prayer points of others who are not of my own family or of my own. Thanksgiving prayer is a prayer lifted up to God not forgetting his grace but looking back at the grace God has given us. God asks us, “could you not pray for more than an hour?” When our prayer goes beyond the level of just praying for our own personal prayer and request, the size of our faith will increase.
Passage to read: 1 Timothy 2:1-4
1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth
