In today’s passage, Jesus give us, who are living weary and burdened lives, peace. When he tells us to take his yoke upon us, it can sound like he is telling us to bear more burden, but he’s not.
The yoke used during the time in which the passage was written was not for a single person but was carried in pairs. Jesus is telling us that he will accompany us in our weary and burdensome life.
Jesus gives us rest. He walks with us and carries our weary tiresome life. Let us lay down our burdens and have true rest today.
Passage: Matthew 11:20-30
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
