During this period in the Book of Matthew, the Palestinian bank system wasn’t developed so people secretly buried their valuables in the ground. The valuables were often discovered and damaged by other people and the owners were always worried about the safety of their belongings.
Those who don’t believe in God have their treasure in this world. So they are overcome with fear and anxiety every time the world falters and falls. But our treasure is in God’s Kingdom that is eternally unshakable. So even though the world may fall, we won’t.
Let us have a victorious day today as we set our eyes on God’s Kingdom where our treasure is.
Passage: Matthew 6:16-24
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
