The meaningless teachings and distorted faith of the false prophets could not save a single soul but rather led them into darkness. The lives of these lying and boastful prophets headed towards injustice and inevitably became corrupt. And so the false teachers as well as those following them had become as dark as springs without water and like mists driven by a storm.
A true believer must stay firm and hold onto the word of truth and be awake in prayer so that meaningless teachings from false prophets do not enter our community.
Passage to read: 2 Peter 2:12-22
15 They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Bezer, who loved the wages of wickedness.
16 But he was rebuked for his wrongdoing by a donkey—an animal without speech—who spoke with a human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.
17 These people are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them.
