We have been called to earth to live as foreigners. But with the various adversities we face, we can forget our special calling and fall into the danger of seeking worldly pleasures.
In order to truly live as foreigners, Peter introduces ‘a heart set on rewards’ in today’s passage. It’s a heart that remembers that our true ‘rewards’ are not of the worldly things but eternal things of the heaven. When we set our hearts on God’s Kingdom, we will seek the things of the above.
I hope we can set our eyes on our heavenly rewards and overcome our afflictions today.
