“They may be won over when they see the purity and reverence of your lives”
During that time, it was very difficult for married wives to live a life of faith. There would have been greater persecutions than of today. But Peter says that the husbands will be saved when they see the purity and reverence of the lives of their wives.
The phrase “when they see the purity and reverence of your lives” means that the husbands have been observing the actions of the wives closely. When the wife lives a life resembling Jesus, getting further away from sin and becoming holy, it will be a great testimony to their husband. The husbands will think about God by the wife’s life. They will think “who is that God working inside my wife?” This, one day will create an opportunity for change for the husband and open a way for him to come to God.

1 Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives,
2 when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.
3 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.
4 Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
