Jeremiah prophesies that if the people of the town of Judah who come to worship in the house of the Lord turn from their evil ways, repent and obey God's commands then He will relent and not inflict on them the disaster He had planned. The people of Judah said they worshipped God but behind the curtains they did evil deeds and lived a life disobeying God. And God no longer wanted them to receive the punishment for their sins. So, He continually sent prophets so that they could repent; He earnestly desired them to turn back to Him.
In mindst of a life of repetitive sinning, God comes to us and meets us, forgiving and loves us.
God, allow us to have a close ear to your word and let us live a life recognising your grace.
Passage to read: Jeremiah 26:1-15
2 “This is what the Lord says: Stand in the courtyard of the Lord’s house and speak to all the people of the towns of Judah who come to worship in the house of the Lord. Tell them everything I command you; do not omit a word.
3 Perhaps they will listen and each will turn from their evil ways. Then I will relent and not inflict on them the disaster I was planning because of the evil they have done.
4 Say to them, ‘This is what the Lord says: If you do not listen to me and follow my law, which I have set before you,
5 and if you do not listen to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I have sent to you again and again (though you have not listened)
1. Did you think of Jesus when you woke up this morning?
2. What is God’s message to you?
3. What do you need to obey?
4. What are you grateful for today?
5. How will you apply the Word today?
