The consequence of disobedience is complete ruin.
We think of God as the ‘loving Lord’ who came to earth in a human body to save the world.
And because the ‘loving Lord’ is always merciful, we think of Him as someone good who forgives us every time we confess our sins.
However, our loving Lord can also become angry. Today’s verses teach us that if we don’t believe and follow God’s Word, His grace can turn into a curse. Please don’t be complacent and think ‘No way, God wouldn’t do such a thing to His loving children!’
The Word of God today is a fearful promise of what we will receive for our disobedience. Let us remember it and write it on our hearts.
Passage: Deuteronomy 28:15~24
15 However, if you do not obey the Lord your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come on you and overtake you:
16 You will be cursed in the city and cursed in the country.
17 Your basket and your kneading trough will be cursed.
18 The fruit of your womb will be cursed, and the crops of your land, and the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.
19 You will be cursed when you come in and cursed when you go out.
1. Did you think of Jesus when you woke up this morning?
2. What is God’s message to you?
3. What do you need to obey?
4. What are you grateful for today?
