Among the leaders, many of them believed in Jesus but because of the Pharisees, they did not confess their faith in public. As they were afraid of being put out of the synagogue.
They cared more on winning recognition by men than the glory of God in times of crisis.
If we are Christians who can confess Jesus as Christ, we should be able to live a life that focuses on the glory of God rather than winning recognition by men and reveals our faith to let Jesus' good influence flow to our neighbors.
Passage: John 12:37-50
42. Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue;
43. for they loved human praise more than praise from God.
