A person that lives a miserably broken life comes out in today’s passage. He is a man that lives alone at the graveyard after a long time of being excluded and avoided because he was possessed by an evil spirit. He lived a tragic life, abandoned by everyone, including his family. But Jesus met this man, who no one looked for. This was because to Jesus, this man was more important than other people’s gazes and judgements.
Jesus’ value was not his successful or effective ministry. His value was His sincere heart towards a lost soul. When He met the broken life with His sincere heart, that life became a newly succeeding life. Jesus was more happy with the man going back to that society in which he got avoided and hurt in and getting accepted and succeeding, rather than the man following Him. Jesus’ leadership was not a succeeding leadership but rather a leadership that succeeds, and allowed others to succeed.
There are many people around us who live a broken life. These people live painful lives, locked in this world’s judgements and ridicules. And they are waiting for someone who will renew them. When we, who have the heart of Jesus, pity their broken lives and lead them to success, God will create miracles in us.
Passage : Mark 5:1-20
18 As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him.
19 Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”
20 So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed.
