Through the prophets, God warns the Israelites of their pride. However, they did not take this seriously and disregarded it, causing their hearts to become corrupt. As a result, they were subject to God’s wrath and judgement.
Prideful hearts can blind our sights and cause us to lose sense of judgment of what is right or wrong. Anyone can fall into the temptation of becoming prideful but what’s important is removing this pride from our hearts before it corrupts becomes corrupt. In moments when something is going well and we are doing something really well that’s when we need to examine the state of our souls.
Passage: Jeremiah 13:1-14
9 “This is what the Lord says: ‘In the same way I will ruin the pride of Judah and the great pride of Jerusalem.
10 These wicked people, who refuse to listen to my words, who follow the stubbornness of their hearts and go after other gods to serve and worship them, will be like this belt—completely useless!
