  Jeremiah the prophet is distressed at the thought of the judgment and affliction the Israelites, people of his own nation, would face in the future. During that era, everything seemed peaceful and untroubled but the disaster they experienced later on is horrendous.
  
  They thought they knew God but they didn’t, and didn’t even try to know Him. Ultimately, they didn’t realise the state they were in.
  
  We must always examine ourselves before God. When we humbly reflect ourselves before the gospel, God will show our true selves to us.
  
  Passage: Jeremiah 4:11-22
  20 Disaster follows disaster; the whole land lies in ruins. In an instant my tents are destroyed, my shelter in a moment.
  21 How long must I see the battle standard and hear the sound of the trumpet?
  22 “My people are fools; they do not know me.
  They are senseless children; they have no understanding. They are skilled in doing evil; they know not how to do good.”
