A prostitute in Revelation represents worldly power. The water that she is sitting in symbolises the people who live in this world.
The reason God has shown us the judgment a prostitute will receive is to show us that the world will receive judgement.
Worldly culture, away from God, satisfies our desires. However all these things definitely get destroyed eventually. These things do not satisfy our minds or save them, but rather they destroy us.
Jesus awakens us who are asleep in obscene cultures. Following these worldly cultures is a path to destruction along with the world.
We can only receive God’s compassion and protection in times of chaos if we fear only God and follow His word.
Passage: Revelation 17:9-18
15 Then the angel said to me, “The waters you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations and languages.
16 The beast and the ten horns you saw will hate the prostitute. They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked; they will eat her flesh and burn her with fire.
