The Israelites had to bring pure oil for the lamp stand by crushing and squeezing olives.
This process of brightening the sanctuary by using pure olive oil to light the lamps signified that the lives of the Israelites must be pure in order for God’s gospel to shine upon them.
Just as the Israelites prepared pure olive oil to light the sanctuary with all their devotion, even in the field of our lives today, we can remove the impurities of sin and the polluted parts of the world and maintain the pure life so that the light of the Gospel, which is witnessed through us, will shine upon us.
Today’s Reading: Leviticus 24:1-9
1 The Lord said to Moses,
2 “Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light so that the lamps may be kept burning continually.
