While I was reading Leviticus I thought, why did God abhor the people of the land of Canaan so much? It was because of their cultural customs at the time. These included offering their children as sacrifices to Molek, incest, bestiality, legalising adultery, having spiritist, fortunetelling etc..
God tells them to live according to God’s law, not following their customs so that the land can become a land of blessing. He says otherwise, the land will vomit them out.
This is telling us that it is up to us whether where we live will become a land of blessing or a land of curse. Therefore, we must actively cultivate the culture of the Kingdom of God where we are.
What are the customs in this world we should not follow?
Passage to read: Leviticus 20:22-27
22 ‘Keep all my decrees and laws and follow them, so that the land where I am bringing you to live may not vomit you out.
23 You must not live according to the customs of the nations I am going to drive out before you. Because they did all these things, I abhorred them.
24 But I said to you, “You will possess their land; I will give it to you as an inheritance, a land flowing with milk and honey.” I am the Lord your God, who has set you apart from the nations.
