Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table to have the last supper of the Passover. Passover is the commemoration of their liberation by God from slavery in ancient Egypt and their freedom as a nation. Now Jesus himself became the Passover lamb, and with the death on the cross and the resurrection, he made a complete salvation. Exodus, a salvation from slavery has passed, and Jesus has saved everyone from their sin and opened the path that leads us to God. Praise the Lord who has given me eternal life through the blood of the new covenant. He loved us to the very end that he sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. May your name be glorified.

17 After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you.
18 For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
