In all of the Old Testament, we can see God’s unchanging promise and records of Israelites’ continuous sin. When we see how the Israelites constantly broke their promises with God and worshiped other gods, we can feel just how patient God was with them.
Unlike the Israelites who continued to change and waver, God held His place and kept His promise.
The numerous covenants and prophecies that occurred in the Bible were possible due to the unchanging, constant nature of God and His love for us.
Trusting and relying on people do not give us complete rest.
We are vulnerable to our surroundings and changes and we often fall despite trying hard not to. But when we trust and depend on God who is unchanging and who keeps His promise till the end, we find true rest. God surely keeps the promises He has made. And we must believe in His unchanging promise in order for us to not falter.
Passage: Hebrews 6:13-20
17 Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath.
18 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.
19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,
20 where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.
