To follow the Lord is to deny oneself first.
To deny oneself is to say 'No' to myself, but 'Yes' to Jesus. This is taking upon the cross and seeking God's reign. We must be able to endure shame and mockery for Jesus, and continue to follow him. Even though the road may be exhausting, we must not give up.
It is a morning when I pray for the missionaries who continue to follow the Lord, although they are tired and exhausted from their mission fields. I hope we continue to seek and follow God in our daily life.
Passage to read: Mark 8: 27- 9: 1
34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.
35 For whoever wants to save their life[b] will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.
Questions to think about:
1. Did I think about Jesus when I woke up this morning?
2. What is God telling me?
3. What do I need to be obedient with?
