Once the country became stable, Rehoboam abandons God. This shows his selfish faith using God for his own needs. And this caused God’s wrath and judgement to fall upon him. We must be careful not to abandon our faith in times of stability.
We must be grateful for hardships and adversities in our lives because they benefit our faith. Through tough times we experience God’s response to our prayers and we learn to rely on Him more. Adversity is God’s tool for restoring our faith in Him.
If you are experiencing a crisis of faith, you will have spiritual recovery through God who allows hardships in our lives. Let us fix our eyes on God who restores in times of trouble.
Passage: 2 Chronicles 12:1-16
1 After Rehoboam’s position as king was established and he had become strong, he and all Israel with him abandoned the law of the Lord.
2 Because they had been unfaithful to the Lord, Shishak king of Egypt attacked Jerusalem in the fifth year of King Rehoboam.
3 With twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand horsemen and the innumerable troops of Libyans, Sukkites and Cushites that came with him from Egypt
