Solomon was only 21 when he became King after his father David. The first thing he did after being anointed as King was to worship God.
God appeared to Solomon and said to him, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.” Solomon, unlike his age, asked for ‘wisdom’ and ‘knowledge’, that he may lead the people of Israel.
Solomon did not put himself first. If he had been self-centered, he would have asked for wealth and riches. King Solomon loved the people of Israel more than himself, and knowing his lack of wisdom and knowledge, had wanted to lead them away from sin.
I want to seek what Solomon sought and with a heart for others’, seek for God’s heart of love.

7 That night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.”
8 Solomon answered God, “You have shown great kindness to David my father and have made me king in his place. 9 Now, Lord God, let your promise to my father David be confirmed, for you have made me king over a people who are as numerous as the dust of the earth. 10 Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
