In today’s passage, God disciplines David since he committed sin by taking a census.
It’s not because taking a census is wrong but the reason behind doing that is what was wrong. Satan knew what David was thinking, and led him to be impatient, led him rushing to make a decision. Eventually David loses his discernment out of rushing and impatience, he then commits sin by choosing man’s law rather than God’s. In one of the ways how Satan make us fail is to lead us rushing and to be impatient.
When our lives become busy that we feel like rushing, we gotta be careful not to lose what God has given to us. The righteous heart and His will. We might easily fall down at that very moment when rushing and being impatient.
Passage: 1 Chronicles 21:1-8
7 This command was also evil in the sight of God; so he punished Israel.
8 Then David said to God, “I have sinned greatly by doing this. Now, I beg you, take away the guilt of your servant. I have done a very foolish thing.”
1.Did you think of Jesus when you woke up this morning?
2. What is God’s message to you?
3. What do you need to obey?
4. What are you grateful for today?
