A silver craftsmen called Demedrio gathers and agitates the people, making them think that their work will be bad and their interests will be diminished because of the Gospel preached by the Apostle Paul. Demetrius's proposition seems to be a matter of their faith, but in the end it is a matter of their own interests.
Likewise, we often must not hide selfish thoughts behind and do it as if for God. There should be no excuses from God to make a gain or a situation that is in your favor.

27 There is danger not only that our trade will lose its good name, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be discredited; and the goddess herself, who is worshiped throughout the province of Asia and the world, will be robbed of her divine majesty.”

29 Soon the whole city was in an uproar. The people seized Gaius and Aristarchus, Paul’s traveling companions from Macedonia, and all of them rushed into the theater together.
