To live a life with no regrets (Chapter 19)
Day 10
When a change is needed (Romans 12:2)
One day a boy found a cocoon on a branch. The boy saw the cocoon wriggling and saw the butterfly inside it. The butterfly was struggling to break through the cocoon so the boy who was looking at this pitifully, took out his pocket knife and tore the cocoon so that the butterfly could come out. He hoped the butterfly would fly. But the butterfly did not move. A few minutes later the butterfly died.
When the struggle to tear the cocoon disappeared the chance to fly disappeared with it. There is no change without suffering or hardship in our lives. We cannot experience any change if we live our lives just complaining about our dissatisfaction of our outside appearance. Like the changes of the cocoon, change needs to take place from the inside. Even if the outside appearance changes by getting a new house, new lover, new relationship, new car, this doesn’t necessarily mean change.
This desire is not a bad thing but change must take place from the inside.
“ Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2)
“… fix your attention on God.” (Romans 12:2 MSG)
Make a decision
* Are you trying to make a change by changing just your physical appearance or your environment?
What is it that you really need to change in your life?
