          • Letter to Philemon

Even while Paul was in prison because of the gospel, he sent letters to help and encourage those who were in need. This letter was to his beloved friend and fellow worker, Philemon. He and his wife Apphia were shepherds of their house church. This letter was sent to plea for his slave Onesimus. It appears that Philemon’s slave, Onesimus was in prison due to some financial issues. However, after hearing the gospel through Paul he was
born again and experienced the turning point of his life. He has become an useful person from being an useless person. Therefore, Paul sent the letter to appeal to Philemon to ask permission for Onesimus to become a helpful co-worker and not a slave.

            Passage: Philemon 1:1-17
1 Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother,

To Philemon our dear friend and fellow worker— 2 also to Apphia our sister and Archippus our fellow soldier—and to the church that meets in your home:

9 yet I prefer to appeal to you on the basis of love. It is as none other than Paul—an old man and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus— 10 that I appeal to you for my son Onesimus,[b] who became my son while I was in chains. 11 Formerly he was useless to you, but now he has become useful both to you and to me.

            1. Did you think about Jesus when you woke up this morning?

2.What is God’s message to me?

3.What do I need to be obedient to?

4.Write a list of thankful prayer points today.
