Benefits of Opening Your Home for House Church
When you first start house church meetings, you will see the example of the shepherd’s house being the centre for gathering as an act of service. However, you should not gather only at the shepherd's house. If you do, the house church members will not be trained to mature and not have the opportunity to practise serving. House churches should be able to gather from house to house, just like the New Testament church. When you gather from house to house, there are the following benefits:
Firstly, when one opens their home, the house church members come and see how they live, and they can all truly become a family. After the house church members visits the home, their prayers for that member becomes more real and earnest.
Secondly, when one opens their home and a house church meeting is held there, the presence of the Holy Spirit comes to that house. The praise and prayers raised by the house church members drives away the darkness from every corner of the house and the home becomes bright and filled with God's grace. When the house church prays for that family at the end of the house church meeting, blessings come to that house.
Thirdly, opening your home has a positive effect on your children. Children feel proud of their home when they have guests. Children in families where they have frequent guests grow up with a strong sense of responsibility, a healthy self-image, and respect for their parents.
Fourthly, when you open your home and welcome guests, your life can be broadened. People always live within limits they have set for themselves. When they think, “this is all I can do,” their lives cannot be used in a greater way. However, when you open the door, your life broadens, the depth and breadth of your life increases, and the scope of your life expands. In the end, you become a person that God can use.
For those who are not confident about opening their home, try providing only the home and rice, and have the house church members bring one side dish each or one ingredient for bibimbap, or have them bring the ingredients and prepare them together.
Word of the week
Today is Teacher’s Day. Please do not take for granted the dedication and love of the pastors, shepherds and shepherd’s wives, and various church teachers who have worked hard for your spiritual growth but instead, I hope you will be able to express your gratitude.
