In a church that is doing house church ministry well, it is said that at every house church meeting, the “House Church Promise” is read together. I have brought the concept across as I think it’s good to have so that we do not lose the direction and purpose of the house church meeting. It would be good to refer to the sample below and modify it to suit your house church situation.
House Church Promise
1, We are thankful that through the house church we are able to practice living out our faith and have people to serve and we promise to care for one another as a spiritual family.
2, We promise to share roles and cooperate so that the house church meeting can run smoothly and evolve (washing the dishes, responding to Kakaotalk messages, praise, sermon summaries, missionary, etc).
3, When people are sharing in the house church, we promise not to interrupt, try to teach them or tell them they are wrong (note: no one talks too much and takes up the time)
4, When we share our lives at house church meetings, we promise to focus on our own thoughts, feelings, emotions and stories rather than talking about other people.
5, When we share our lives at house church meetings, we promise to be careful with our language and behaviour so as not to harm the spiritual atmosphere (for eg, using crude language, excessive jokes, alcohol, unwholesome entertainment, business-related transactions, multi-level marketing, money transactions, etc).
6, We promise not to disclose other people’s difficulties or prayer requests shared in the house church meeting to members of other house churches. We do not share prayer requests of our members with others unless we are given permission.
7, We promise to do our best to find people in need around us and through the house church meeting, pray for them, see what we can do to help them, and among them, meet VIPs to evangelise.
8, We promise to work hard to intercede for each other by turning difficulties and worries shared during the house church meeting into prayer points, so we can experience answered prayers.
9, At the house church meeting, we set a specific goal of evangelism for one person or one family per year and promise to pray and work together to share the joy of saving the lost.
10, The shepherd promises to intercede in prayer for the house church members and the house church members promise to intercede in prayer for the shepherd.
