          • If COVID-19 is causing you anxiety and stress

Pastor Nam who practices counselling, posted literature on how to treat COVID-19 related stress on the House Church Ministries website and I have outlined it as below.
Everyone has different personalities, experiences, levels of faith, and emotions, so it’s only natural that we all respond differently to the same situation. Anxiety and stress can reduce our immunity physically, and increase our stress level psychologically, and it’s important that we deal with this correctly, and below are my advice:
Examine your psychological, spiritual and behavioral reaction to the current situation. If you are looking up COVID-19 related news excessively, or if you are anxious about meeting other people, see if the following signs appear repeatedly.
When one is anxious or stressed, specific psychological symptoms include irritation, sadness, loss of appetite, loss of sleep, having nightmares, inability to concentrate, constant anxiety, racing heartbeat, lack of motivation, restlessness, excessive use of the smartphone, signs of addiction, relying on drugs, alcohol or cigarettes, fear of being around others, being doubtful, believing there is virus in the air and on every object, etc.
These symptoms can appear in everyone at different levels, so we should not ignore them, but understand and try our best to treat them.
There are various ways to treat anxiety and stress but the following are some effective ways everyone can easily try:
            1) Reduce the amount of time spent watching the news (E.g. every night at 5pm, for 30 minutes). Start a regular hobby such as going for a walk. Go out in the sun for 20-30 minutes and stretch.
            2) Don’t become complacent in your faith. Regularly meditate on the Scripture and pray out loud. (Psalm 23, Isaiah 41:10, Exodus 15:26, etc.) Memorize Bible verses or read the Bible.
            3) Spend time developing yourself. Set a reading goal, or learn something new through YouTube.
            4) Continue to stay in touch with a trustworthy friend or mokjang members. Actively participate in your online mokjang gatherings.
            5) Spend quality time with your family. Spending time together as a family is the best way to teach children about faith. You can have a family worship time, have a sharing time as you do in mokjangs, play games or watch Christian movies or read books together.
We must be careful not to let the virus cause us to lose trust in people, become too emotional or negative, or become spiritually depressed. So it’s important that we maintain our precious relationships with our mokjangs by staying in touch with them and comforting one another.

            This week’s message
Due to COVID-19 that is rapidly spreading globally, we are holding our church service in our homes. Please ensure that you are not late to service and that you don’t leave before it finishes. Please stay till the end and take time to pray at the end.
