As we approach the end of 2019, what has been the toughest thing you’ve encountered this year? You might say your difficult circumstances but in fact it’s relationships. The most regretful also is relationships.
I remember reading this somewhere: “As cruel as it may be, people remember the one mistake, and not the 100 kindness”. This means that people are so crafty that rather than remembering the numerous good memories, they think about the one disappointment they’d had and this damages their relationship with the person. This is human nature, but If we are unable to overcome the disappointments and hurt, we will never be able to experience true happiness.
Those with faith and those who create happiness are those who are able to think of the good memories rather than disappointments.
This piece of writing a friend sent me reminds me how precious relationships are:
If someone treats you to dinner, it’s not because they’re rich, it’s because they value relationships over money.
If someone shows initiative at work, it’s not because they’re unwise, it’s because they know what it means to have responsibilities.
If someone apologises first after an argument, it’s not because they are in the wrong, but because they value you.
If someone is willing to help me, it’s not because they owe me, it’s because they think of me as a true friend.
If someone constantly texts or calls you, it’s not because they have nothing better to do, it’s because they are always thinking of you!’
Just like the lyrics in the song we have been singing a lot recently, “Happiness”, the world won’t understand when we say that we are happy that we can pray despite many tearful moments, and we are happy we’ve held back for the Lord despite being treated unfairly. Happiness is a gift from God to those who live by the Lord’s will.
I want to thank everyone for your efforts and attempts to live by God’s will throughout the year, despite your tough circumstances living as immigrants. I love you!
