Accepting Jesus is the most important thing one can do in their life, and is the foundation of leading a life of faith. Many come to church expecting that one day, they will come to believe in Jesus and naturally accept him, but surprisingly, there are many unbelievers who simply come to church without faith and unable to accept Jesus as their Savior. As a church and as a pastor, my first and foremost responsibility is to help the unbelievers hear the gospel clearly and accurately, and to help them accept Jesus. And once they believe Jesus, help them have confidence in their salvation. Occasionally, there are people who believe in Jesus but not in their salvation. Since they are not sure of their salvation, they are unable to experience joy in their life as a Christian, unable to pray to God, and consequently unable to be used by God. In order for everyone at our church to have assurance of their salvation, we have three steps everyone must undertake.
The first step to believing in Jesus is to attend the ‘Accepting Jesus’ meeting, and to attend the first Life Series bible study, ‘Living Life’. ‘Accepting Jesus’ meeting is an opportunity to be introduced to the gospel, and personally confess Jesus as your savior. Those who have already received salvation can review their faith. ‘Living Life’ sets the foundation for a joyful life as a Christian.
This is followed by the ‘Survival Kit’ which teaches five fundamental points for those who are now sure of their salvation. This course reassures you of your salvation and it teaches about the very basics of a Christian life and is a mandatory course.
There are other training and education for a continued development of faith, but for newcomers and those who have yet to have assurance of their salvation must complete Accepting Jesus meeting, Living Life, and the Survival Kit.
I pray that these steps will allow everyone at our church to believe in Jesus, in their salvation, and experience the joy and gratitude of salvation and ultimately lead a life God intended.
