Three people- Sung Nak Cheul, Lee Baek Han, and Yang Yoon Taek have been nominated for deacons at our last mokja meeting. They have been nominated through a screening process of their qualifications and receiving over two thirds of mokjas and moknyeos’ votes. Now we are ready to appoint them as ordained deacons through our members’ votes (two thirds of members’ votes is required) and the appointment takes place on Sunday, 26th November at 5pm.
The nominees are currently preparing the required paperwork such as their pledge, a testimony of God’s calling, wife’s consent, mokja referrals, referrals from friends and acquaintances (are they an influential Christian to the world?)
To give them sufficient time to prepare what’s required, we will be holding the vote on Sunday, 15th October at 3.30pm in Telopea. Voting rights is only given to members. If you are unsure whether you are a member or a not, eligibility for membership include belonging to a mokjang, having accepted Jesus as your Savior through a meeting with the pastor and having completed Living Life. This membership system was introduced in July 2014, therefore everyone who was in a mokjang at the time became a member and everyone who attended our church after the merge on 30th November 2014 also became eligible.
It is God who, through his workers, appoints people to his service (1 Tim 1:12). The reason we go through such process to appoint titles is because we want to do our best to select those who are faithful. I ask all the members of the church to prepare for this event with prayer and to vote with prudence, and once we have elected them to God’s service, to support and cooperate with them. When we vote, I would like everyone to not focus on their perfection but whether they genuinely love our church and will serve faithfully. I look forward to seeing many more faithful workers being appointed for the future of our church.
