          • Reading the ground rules for children in mokjangs

A mokjang is a time when our children receive blessings. To disclose your home to others and worship and pray together, share food and simply spend time together is an excellent environment for children. For this reason, there are some families that come to mokjang meetings solely for their children. Olive blessing is especially a valuable opportunity for parents to pass down their faith and bless their children. I cannot wait to see how our next generation that is raised with such opportunities and blessings will be used by God. Despite this, there are inconveniences and problems that are inevitable when children are together. Issues such as children fighting with one another, damaging furniture, touching things without permission, and disrupting the adults’ discussions, etc. are some examples. In order to prevent disorder and to teach our children good manners, I would like to introduce some ground rules to follow in mokjangs. I suggest reading the rules every mokjang time with the children and you can make adjustments as you see fit to make them more suitable for your own mokjang.

            Ground rules for mokjang

            1 No running inside
2 No running or putting feet up on furniture
3 Ask for permission before turning on the computer, stereo, or TV
4 Ask for permission before entering bedrooms
5 Ask for permission before playing with toys. Breaking others’ things is a shameful behavior. No writing on the wall or furniture
6 Clean up after yourselves before leaving the home
7 Ask for permission before starting to eat or drink. Offer food and drinks to others before yourselves
8 Say thank you to the host before leaving their home
